Anna E. Banks is Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of AARP, the nation’s largest nonprofit dedicated to empowering people 50 and older to choose how they live as they age. She is focused on delivering brand transformation, digital innovation, and member engagement.
Anna is a seasoned marketing executive with three decades of experience driving growth for global consumer brands. She joined AARP from Sephora North America, where she served as Senior Vice President. At Sephora, Anna led digital transformation and personalization initiatives and spearheaded brand and performance marketing efforts that generated over $1.5B in annual revenue. Her appointment underscores AARP’s commitment to reshaping the narrative around aging and amplifying its role as the leading voice for more than 120 million Americans aged 50+.
In her role, Banks leads AARP’s Marketing, Brand and Content (MBC) organization, which encompasses brand strategy, integrated communications, membership lifecycle, experience design, customer care and editorial. She helms the organization’s flagship publications—AARP The Magazine and AARP Bulletin—the most-read print titles in the country.
Anna brings an extraordinary blend of corporate savvy and mission-driven passion to the role. Prior to her tenure at Sephora, she served as Chief Marketing Officer for Fair Trade USA, where she led brand transformation across consumer, donor, and advocacy audiences. She has held senior marketing roles at Walmart Global eCommerce as well as digital strategy and innovation leadership roles at McCann Worldgroup.
Banks’ commitment to mission-driven work extends beyond her professional roles. She has served on the boards of the Museum of the African Diaspora and Katherine Delmar Burke School, and is an investor and mentor with Pipeline Angels, a network of women investors focused on supporting social entrepreneurs. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Harvard and Radcliffe Colleges and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
