In January of 2023, the Dallas Stars kicked off the new year by announcing that Joanne Lovato had joined the ranks as the organization’s vice president of marketing.
Lovato most recently had served as VP of Brand Marketing for Skillz Inc., a California-based mobile gaming platform. Prior to that, Lovato served as Head of Brand Marketing for the West Division of PepsiCo Beverages North America. In this role, she led an integrated team across major markets to develop locally relevant campaigns and 360 brand building initiatives for the company’s beverage portfolio. The Los Angeles native also oversaw partner marketing and activation of property and team relationships across sports leagues including venues like So-Fi Stadium and organizations such as the San Francisco 49ers, the Golden State Warriors, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Colorado Avalanche, and the San Jose Sharks, among others. Lovato also spent a good part of her career at Samsung Electronics America where she held multiple roles with various levels of accountability including: developing consumer & GTM strategies; creating and managing professional relationships with celebrity, music, sports and entertainment industry influencers & properties; leading the first ever Hispanic marketing effort for the mobile brand and launching iconic products around key cultural moments like the Super Bowl and Oscars.
Her current role with the Stars focuses on strategic oversight and execution of audience development, corporate partnership activation and strategy, team coverage on the club’s digital channels, creative design production, game presentation and merchandise sales.
